Thank you so much for your warm response to this year's session (the very last!) of Whole Food Kitchen. I think it will be a wonderful time! Each time I do a workshop, I like to include contributions from folks other than myself. I generally invite specific people to help out, sometimes I'll ask each person to write about a topic I know they have great experience with, other times I give the entire group one particular theme and they write according to that. It's always amazing.
For this session of Whole Food Kitchen, I'd like to open it up to you! I'll try to keep this brief so I do not overwhelm you, but I tend to be upfront and thorough with all the details when I ask people to work with me. In other words, I do my best to anticipate any questions you might have, and answer them in my proposal, which saves us both time.
A whole food kitchen is a place of production. More of a workshop than a gorgeous spread in a magazine. As home cooks, we are all looking for practical ways to store the goods, house the tools, and keep the general workload manageable. Let's learn from, and be inspired by, each other.
Seeking Contributors
Description - I'm seeking four people to provide a photo tour of their whole food kitchen, along with an essay that is written using the prompt Life Inside My Whole Food Kitchen. This is a great opportunity to embrace your non-designer kitchen! People genuinely feel comforted when they see kitchens of all types.
With your photos and words, give us a tour! What is the day to day flow like in your kitchen? Do you have food allergies in your household? A large family or no children at home? Any tips for staying organized, planning ahead, and stretching your dollars? No need to answer all of these questions, and you might choose to take the prompt in different direction, I'm just offering to get the ideas flowing.
Details - Your piece should include 10-15 photos, mostly landscape in orientation. Essay should be approximately 1,000-1,500 words. Just take a moment and think of life inside your whole food kitchen... then tell us your story.
Due Date - If you are selected (that sounds rather harsh... I'd love to have everyone!), your essay and photos will be due April 18, 2016.
Compensation - (I am very upfront about this sort of thing.) Contributors will receive $150 plus a complimentary pass to the workshop. If you've already signed up, don't worry, I'll refund your enrollment fee. I'll also include your bio and any relevant web links on the workshop contributor page, such as your blog, Etsy shop, etc.

To Apply
- To be considered as a contributor, please email a 200 word (approx.) teaser about life inside your whole food kitchen, along with 3 sample photos no later than April 4, 2016. If you have a blog, please send a link to that as well.
Photo tips - some close ups are fine, but don't forget to go for the wide shot! This is a whole food kitchen tour... we want people to feel as though they are being invited in for a cup of tea. And remember to turn your flash off for the most natural lighting.
- Email submission to threadcityyoga@yahoo.com with WFK Contributor in the subject line.
- Chosen contributors will be notified on April 6, 2015.
- I'll be choosing based on diversity, beautiful photos, and quality of writing.
If you applied last year and were not chosen, please don't hesitate to resubmit! I wish I could include everyone, but I only have four spots. Not being chosen last year is no indication of me not wanting to include you. I loved every submission that rolled through my inbox!
Thank you so much for considering this part in Whole Food Kitchen, I look forward to hearing from you!
