Look at me writing four posts in one week... just like old times! I only have a few minutes, but thought I'd stop in to answer some questions that have come through recently.
:: I am no longer writing at Simple Green Frugal Co-op. I stopped about a month or so ago (forgot to mention it!), and do not know if or when I will be returning. It's fantastic over there, a wonderful group of writers that were always so supportive and patient with one another behind the scenes. My time writing for them was so well spent, the problem was I just ran out of time to do so! So, I'm taking a break. Maybe there will be a place on the roster for me in the future should my schedule open up a little. I'll be sure to let you know!
:: You likely noticed there was no First Friday Giveaway for September. My apologies for not making an announcement about that. The monthly giveaway was the second committment I needed to let go of, as fun as it was!! I can't currently promise the small chunk of time that it takes to produce and run the monthly giveaway, so I'm going to let it go for a bit. There will be other giveaways, they just won't appear as routinely. Word on the street is that a giveaway will be showing up here next week... a giveaway of the BOOK variety... ooooh!
:: I feel a kale post coming on soon. I receive so many questions about kale recipes and such that it deserves a good post. Similar to the grain salads post. Stay tuned for that!
:: When we move to Vermont, we do not plan to homeschool again. There is a Montessori school that goes through eighth grade in the area we are moving to, that is our plan. We are going up to visit next week! After that, there are quite a few alternative/private schools for the high school years. So that is our plan, let's see if life has the same agenda. ;)
:: Yes, I do cook with coconut oil! Do any of you? My current favorite is a friend's recipe... she dices a sweet potato or two, cooks gently in about 1/4 coconut oil (maybe a splash of water), once cooked add chopped kale (surprise, surprise) and saute a few minutes more. Season with sea salt and pepper. Seriously good. I think I'll do a coconut oil post too. If you have a favorite recipe, please share it in the comments!
:: Yoga! Yoga! Yoga! My goodness you all have the best questions. I get a lot of emails from readers asking for yoga help and recommendations. I''m thinking a full week (possibly two) of yoga posts is needed. It's been on my mind for a long time. I'd like to bring others into the mix as well... other yogis... perhaps my teachers... I'll have to see what my friends are up for. Knitters have been asking for yoga help with neck tension too, which makes me think a couple of short videos demonstrating simple neck-release techniques would be a good idea... it's hard to just write it out. I need to show you.
:: Yes! New bags and Bulks Food Bags are making their way to the shop... things in that area are just moving at a snail's pace right now. I'm shooting for mid October for a BIG spruce up in the shop.
:: In the meantime, the photos in this post are a little tease. There are a few new goodies in my vintage shop, and more will be filling the shelves over the weekend. Did you see those lampshades!? I knew they'd be gone in a flash. So cute.
I'm sure I didn't cover everything, (and much of this was a needed mental purge of sorts)... you all ask some really good questions! If there is something you've been wondering about or hoping I would cover here on the blog, the time is now, ask away! It's good for me to check in with you guys this way. Your thoughts and questions give me great insight as to why you all come here in the first place! ;)
Happy weekending!
