A couple of years ago I posted on March 22nd with a picture of myself in flip-flops having breakfast on the front porch. I also mentioned sleeping for several nights with the window open and listening to the peepers. Peepers! That is so not happening right now.
How about this first day of Spring photo? Pretty gloomy and muddy indeed. We had an incredible amount of rain last night which melted much of snow outside. I feel for my friends and family up north who just received another snowstorm - we're all ready for Spring at this point so a big pile of fresh snow can seem a little deflating.
Even though I don't have much to report other than a few new (plant filled!) cookbooks, a foggy, muddy mess outside and a bowl of cinnamon pecan oatmeal; I can't seem to let the passing of this much anticipated day go by without pausing in appreciation. We had very little planned for the day, some school and work related things were checked off the list. Adam will head down to my uncle's to boil tonight (SO much sap now). Other than that, I think I'll flip off the computer and head outside for an early springtime walk, followed by some teatime knitting back inside. And soup. I love a pot of vegetable soup this time of year.
