... is my latest treasure! It's bulky waste week in town which means the curbside throughout my neighborhood is overflowing with unwanted goods. Granted, most of it is totally trashed and, um... a little gross... but with a careful eye it's possible to find a gem within the rubble. Like this sweet little blue table. The cut out detail in the front is especially pretty, sorry it's hard to see in this photo. I've been wanting some more painted furniture in our home (I'm totally in love with the green cabinet in this post at Farmama... as well as those curtains!!), but could never bring myself to paint any of my own wooden furniture* (see family rules below), so finding a few new pieces feels in order. This was the first of hopefully many (but not too many). There are also two more pieces that made their way home with me this week, I need to give them a little fresh paint first and then I'll show you. Sometimes I think my entire house has been furnished for about two hundred bucks!
* Growing up we had rules like any family. There were the usual "be polite, say please and thank you... set the table, clear the table... dust on Tuesday... bedtime is 8:00... etc." But we also had certain rules that occasionally were spoken, but mostly just understood. My sister will read this and nod her head. She knows them too.
The Family Rules
- Never purchase or eat potatoes from a box.
- Never purchase or eat fake maple syrup
- Never paint wood that has not yet been painted.
So there you have it. And I'm pretty sure we were not alone in our quirks. Care to share some of your unique family rules growing up? What about your family today?
