yo-yo giveaway!
The sun is shining! I've been taking pictures for the new shop and having great fun with that, until it came time to photograph the yo-yo's. Wow, it's just hard. Like you know how photographing a window is hard? Kinda like that. Just hard.
Aren't they beautiful though? I hope you will enter a chance to win these lovelies by leaving a comment at the end of this post. A way to celebrate the opening of May Berries Vintage. Thank you for a warm welcome yesterday, it really is a lot of fun for me over there, and crawling around under tables at flea markets.
Several thoughts about the woman that made these are in my mind, what she intended for them to become. How she would feel knowing that there is an entire community of women today swooning (I hope you are swooning) over her delicate craftsmanship. Her fabric choices are so sweet. But were they choices? Or were they all that was available, scraps left from making her children's clothing?
You are entering to win two yo-yo samplers... each is 15'" square and they are hand stitched together. The fabrics date to the 1930's -1940's and are cotton. They could be stitched to a pillow front, framed and hung on the wall, made into a doll quilt... who knows. I will draw a winner Friday afternoon, hope you play along!
They are truly lovely! What a wonderful idea and way to cherish the scraps that were left overs from projects made for little ones! Those projects are the most dear and must have been to the artist!

Since I have been lucky enough to find a few quilts lately, I have fallen head over heels in love with 1930s and 1940s fabrics again.
BTW,I love the play on Mayberry.

I would love to wint those beautiful yo-yo treasures. I can see them as table toppers in the dining room. How lovely and how sweet your words thinking about the woman that made them, and wondering about her circumstances. Such a treasure.
Thanks you.
