Are you living your Dharma? Are you open to it evolving throughout your life? That is the beauty of Dharma after all, it's ability to change. What brings peace, harmony, and purpose to your life today may be different in the next season. So be it. Just stay open enough to notice, and then welcome something new.
I was one of those teens that never understood the idea of picking a career, really did not understand it at all. I took one of those career placement tests in high school, it said I should go to a liberal arts college and then be a humanitarian. A formal and fancy packaged up humanitarian with a special degree that declares I am indeed authorized and qualified to lend a hand.
But what if I decided I'd rather cover the world in blanket stitches? The beautiful rhythm of something so fine and precise, uniting two sides, once divided. Could this help the greater good? Oh, I am sure there are more useful ways to serve humanity. I just couldn't help entertaining the idea, as I stitched the afternoon away, peacefully, purposefully, with concentration and clarity... what if one's Dharma could actually be to cover the world in blanket stitches. Imagine. I am very much in love with blanket stitching.
So what am I doing with all of these woolly, felty, stitched up darlings? Stay tuned... meanwhile, you can find me stitching away underneath the Bodhi tree.
